Has anyone planted this? I have to say it's not my favorite but the kids love it. We have butternut and buttercup squash in the garden and they are almost ready to eat.

Yep, we have a lot of these too! I can't wait to pick them and eat them. They are so easy - you scrape out the middle and bake them and add a touch of brown sugar- It's like heaven in your mouth!
So far they are looking good in the garden!
I remember liking the winter squash better when I was a kid, too. Somehow, the summer squash is an "aquired" taste. I only recently started liking eggplant and zucchini. I wouldn't touch the stuff when I was younger. It also has to do with the way it is prepared. I agree with pinkie - the winter squashes are made with things that kids like, like brown sugar and/or cinnamon and nutmeg.
